LASBI is partnering with local loan fund agencies that will provide access to capital for businesses that cannot access start up and expansion capital through traditional means.


Partnerships are currently being pursued with several loan funds including A Shared Initiative, Accion USA and Kiva – USA.  LASBI is also currently working with SBA to become an SBA Microloan Intermediary.  This will allow direct loan assistance.


The Rural Area Small Business Assistance Center (RASBAC) opened in January 2015  in Luling, Louisiana to offer much-needed technical assistance and support services to businesses located in rural Louisiana areas.  In February 2021, our RASBAC headquarters will be relocating from Luling to Bogalusa, Louisiana.  

Current services being offered include:


  • Technical Assistance – coaching, business planning, marketing, management, finance and strategic planning;

  • Back-Office Services – accounting/bookkeeping, income tax preparation, sales tax preparation, payroll preparation, human resources/personnel management, IT consulting.

  • Funding - low-interest microloans for small businesses and entrepreneurs. 



This Initiative helps entrepreneurs start and scale their businesses by providing access to mentors.  Mentors will be existing high-growth entrepreneurs.  Mentors will provide advisement on revenue growth, employee growth, sourcing outside funding and avoiding pitfalls.
